First issued in June of 2001, this set is limited to only 5000 Portfolios. It includes the first notes from the 1999 $10 Series and the last notes from the 1995 $10 Series.
The Series 1999 serial numbers begin with number 00000301.
The 1995 notes are from the scarce ‘AY’ block in which only 8,000 notes were issued and begin with serial number 999992001.
The ‘AY’ notes were used exclusively in this set and in the 1999 $10 Premium Sets, a fact few collectors are aware of. None were issued in sheet form or for commercial purposes.
Sets that include the 1999 $10 in the 300 serial range are the most desired of these Portfolios and are very difficult to locate. Not only is this set among that group, it is among the lowest in that group and represents the 20th set issued.
In addition, many of these sets were likely acquired by casual collectors, who tend to keep them in the family rather than in the marketplace.
