1928A $1 SC Super Radar/Error T01111110A PCGS-61 PPQ
Price: $1150
If there was ever a note with a split personality this is it.
First off, it is a very rare 01111110 Super Radar on an early Silver Certificate.
A Super Radar on any of the early Silver Certificates from the 1928 Series through the 1928E Series is extremely tough to find, especially in Uncirculated condition. Logan Talks’ extensive research, as reported in the SPMC September/October Paper Money Journal, lists a total of 37 solid notes and only 93 radar notes for all of the 1928 through 1928E Series notes.
And yes, this note is also clearly an Error that would have never made it out of the BEP facilities had an inspector spotted it.
It appears that our friends at PCGS were not sure what to make of it, and decided to penalize it for its error attributes, but not title it as such. It is clearly superior to any typical PCGS-61 PPQ.
Either way, it remains extraordinary. If it sits for a bit we will likely re-submit it with the commentary that an error note need not necessarily prance down Main Street naked for it to be legitimately recognized. (Not sure how that will go over.)
A 1928A Super Radar/Error PCGS-61 PPQ note, quite a find and likely unique.
