1999 $20 Premium Historical Portfolio - 200th Anniversary White House
Price: $125
Another one of those amazing ‘mystery’ issues that one collector in 100 might be familiar with.
First issued on November 1, 2000, it was produced jointly by the US Postal Service and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the White House.
Officially called The “White House 200th Anniversary Commemorative Stamp and Note Portfolio”, it incorporates a full pane of White House stamps and a $20 note that begins with serial number 2000xxxx. As mentioned in the initial press release, “the note features a special serial number range not available in general circulation.”
This is undoubtably one of the most beautifully crafted sets ever issued. It’s as if the USPS and BEP tried to outdo each other in upping the quality of this Portfolio. Truth be told, it leaves the more commonly known Millennium Coin and Currency Set in the dust.
A unique set that is highlighted by:
1. Stamps and currency combined in a Portfolio-type offering.
2. A $20 Millennium Note (unknown to 99% of collectors).
3. The engraved portraits of John Adams and William J. Clinton, who represent the first and last Presidents to reside in the White House during this period.
4. Craftsmanship second to none.
Talk about a sleeper. Few of us will get to sleep in Lincoln’s bedroom, but here’s your chance to own a scarce piece of Americana that bears witness to that room and to the House in which Lincoln and all the other Presidents resided.
We currently have available the following sets at the very reasonable price of $125 per set.

This is truly a wonderful piece of history that friends and family will appreciate and admire. And fellow collectors will likely say, “Wow, I’ve never seen one of those before!”
