2003A $2 - 2008 Single Notes - Dallas
On May 12, 2008, the Dallas 2008 Single Note was released. Its issuance was met with extremely solid demand that subsequently overwhelmed the BEP order processing system.
Those accustomed to ordering online were often forced to change tactics and ended-up either faxing or phoning in their orders. The BEP was as prepared as it could have been, it just did not have systems in place to handle the onslaught.
The Dallas issue probably ended-up with the broadest distribution, due in part to the following caveat posted on the BEP website:
‘Any customer who place orders above the quantity restriction (50 units) for this product will be subject to having their entire order rejected.’
No criminal charges were threatened, but it’s clear the BEP intended to strictly enforce quantity restrictions.
